We Were Here Tomorrow Release Date and Unlock Time
The We Were Here Tomorrow release date is October 20, 2026, with PC unlocking at 13:00 UTC. Console timing, the demo window and the discount deadline.
Quick answer
We Were Here Tomorrow released on October 20, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on the same day, with the PC build unlocking at 13:00 UTC — 9:00 a.m. Eastern, 6:00 a.m. Pacific and 21:00 Beijing time. There was never a pre-order period, and the 10% launch discount runs into early November.
The date and the platforms
Three stores and the official press release agree on October 20, 2026, and the Steam API lists the game as released rather than upcoming. The platforms are PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, macOS or Linux build, and the PC version is Windows only.
Full crossplay was available from day one, so a PC player and a PS5 player can share a run without a patch or a workaround. That was not a launch-week promise; it is in the title of the official release announcement.
The series has five main games and one Expeditions spin-off, and this is the fifth main entry and the sixth game overall. You do not need to have played the others, though the story continues from the previous one.
Unlock times by region
PC unlocked at 13:00 UTC. Local equivalents, as published by two independent outlets:
- US Eastern: October 20, 9:00 a.m.
- US Pacific: October 20, 6:00 a.m.
- UK: October 20, 2:00 p.m.
- Central Europe: October 20, 3:00 p.m.
- South Africa: October 20, 3:00 p.m.
- Brazil: October 20, 10:00 a.m.
- Japan: October 20, 10:00 p.m.
- China: October 20, 9:00 p.m.
- Australia East: October 20, 11:00 p.m.
- New Zealand: October 21, 2:00 a.m.
One source prints a US figure of "8:00 a.m. UTC-5" next to "9:00 a.m. ET", which looks contradictory and is not: October is still daylight saving time, so 13:00 UTC is 9:00 EDT and 8:00 EST. Quote the UTC time and the local city time, and the confusion disappears.
Console timing is less certain
The PC unlock moment is confirmed by both the store and the time tables. The consoles are confirmed for the same date, but one outlet notes that its times are the "confirmed Steam release times" and that the game "might go live later on consoles", and we have not found an official console-specific hour.
In practice, treat the countdown on the PS Store and the Xbox Store as the authority on the day, and treat any third-party table as PC information unless it says otherwise.
If you are coordinating a first session across platforms, agree a time an hour after the PC unlock and check that both store pages show the game as purchased rather than pre-loaded.
Console pre-loading is worth using for the same reason. A 25 GB download started at the unlock moment can cost a pair their first evening, and neither console store offers a shared download between two accounts.
There was no pre-order
Searches for "can I preorder" have no answer because the game never opened a pre-order window. It went from a store page to a purchasable release on October 20, and the only pre-release access was a demo.
That matters for one practical reason: nobody has a pre-order bonus, a pre-order key or an early-access entitlement, so any page offering one is not describing this game. The Fan Edition and the soundtrack are ordinary paid DLC, not pre-order rewards.
If you are arriving after launch, there is nothing you missed by not pre-ordering except the two-week discount window, which is covered on the price page.
The demo, and why its solutions may mislead
A demo appeared on April 9, 2026, returned during Steam Next Fest, and was taken down on August 3, 2026, per the studio's own July 23 announcement. Its Steam AppID was 4421200, and it is no longer installable.
The demo is worth knowing about because videos recorded from it circulate as launch footage. Puzzle layouts and panel wording changed between the demo and the release build, and patch 1.1.2 changed several interactions again, so a demo-era solution is a hint rather than an answer.
There is no public plan to re-release the demo. If you want to try before buying, the free first game in the series is the closest thing to a trial.
The discount window
The launch discount is 10%, and the official announcement describes it as running "during the first two weeks". The PS Store gives the only hard deadline we have: the offer ends November 3, 2026 at 08:00 UTC, which is 16:00 Beijing time.
Steam has no countdown printed, but the store shows the reduced price as a launch discount rather than a permanent price cut, and the official FAQ quotes the same 10% figure. Expect both stores to return to $19.99 when the window closes.
After that, the price is whatever the next sale says. The game has only been out for a week, so there is no pattern to predict a deeper discount from.
What has changed since October 20
Patch 1.1.2 arrived on October 23, three days after launch, and fixed checkpoint black screens, world content failing to load, voice chat not reconnecting and a set of chapter-specific softlocks. It also added a DX11 launch option for machines that could not boot the game.
The store page has not changed its price, platforms or system requirements since launch, so a guide written on release day is still accurate about what you are buying and inaccurate about which bugs you will meet.
For patch specifics, the known-issues page and the not-loading page track what is fixed and what is still open.
The other thing that changed is the review picture. The score fell during launch week and then stabilised, and the reviews page keeps the dated numbers rather than a rounded verdict. Anyone quoting a single percentage without a date is quoting a different day's game.
