We Were Here Tomorrow Xbox: Series X|S Guide
We Were Here Tomorrow Xbox release is Series X|S only: price, ESRB rating, online co-op setup, cloud saves, crossplay and the cassette-futurism pitch.
Quick answer
Yes, there is an Xbox version, and it is Xbox Series X|S only — no Xbox One build. It costs $17.99 during the launch discount, carries an ESRB E rating, supports online co-op for exactly two players and is optimised for Series X|S with cloud saves. Crossplay with PC and PS5 works from launch.
What the store page says
The Xbox listing gives a price of 17.99 USD against a strikethrough 19.99 USD, so the same 10% launch discount as the other platforms. The platform field names only Xbox Series X|S, and there is no Xbox One entry anywhere on the page.
The capability tags are online co-op for two to two players, optimised for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox achievements and Xbox cloud saves. Cloud saves matter more than usual in a two-player game, because a crashed session on one console does not cost the pair their checkpoint.
The genre labels are action and adventure plus puzzle and trivia, which is a fair description of a game that is mostly conversation and switches.
Cloud saves are the practical highlight for a co-op pair. The game saves at checkpoints, and a console that drops mid-chapter resumes from the account rather than the box, so a crash costs a re-download at worst rather than a replayed chapter.
What is not on the page
There is no Game Pass tag and no Play Anywhere tag, so we do not claim either. If the game arrives on Game Pass later, that will be a store announcement rather than something a guide can predict.
There is also no Xbox One version, which is the question most likely to be asked by someone with an older console. The Series X|S requirement is not a compatibility note; there is simply no build for the previous generation.
Local co-op is absent as well. The store lists online co-op only, with no local option, and the developer's own FAQ points players at public lobbies and Discord rather than a shared screen.
How it runs and how it looks
The game is optimised for Series X|S, so it is a current-generation title rather than a back-compatibility release. We have not benchmarked frame rates, and no source we checked publishes a performance comparison between the two consoles.
The visual pitch is the interesting part. The executive producer described the setting in an Xbox Wire post as retro-futuristic, inspired by cassette futurism and the bold style of the 1980s: "chunky technology, shoulder pads, and environments that feel both nostalgic and whimsical".
He called the result "cozy sci-fi" — inviting and playful, with enough mystery to keep it unsettling. That is the studio's own phrase, and it is a better description than anything a store tag can give you.
Story continuity for series players
The same Xbox Wire post confirms that this entry continues after the previous game, and that players still wondering what happened to the Jester will get an answer. It is the only place we have found that promise in the studio's own words.
For newcomers the producer's line is equally clear: the story stands on its own and you can jump straight in. That matches the official FAQ, which describes every entry as standalone even though the lore connects.
If you are playing on Xbox after finishing the earlier games on another platform, do not assume your save follows you. We have found no official statement about cross-progression, so treat progress as tied to the platform you play on.
Playing with a PC or PS5 partner
Crossplay is supported at launch across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the official release announcement puts it in the title. The platform matrix on the crossplay page covers every pairing, including console to console.
Both players still need their own copy. There is no Friend Pass on any platform, and the Xbox store lists no free partner version, so a two-console household buys twice.
Voice chat runs inside the game and needs a working microphone. On Xbox that means a headset the console recognises; the game does not offer a text-chat fallback for puzzle callouts.
Rating, achievements and audience
Xbox lists ESRB Everyone, while the PlayStation listing adds a mild fantasy violence and users-interact note. The combined reading is a teen-friendly puzzle game with some creepy atmosphere rather than a horror title, which is also what the developer says in the FAQ.
Achievements total 37 and 1000 Gamerscore across platforms, and Xbox cloud saves mean progress follows the account rather than the console.
The Xbox store rating is 4.6 out of 5, but from only nine ratings at the time of checking. That sample is too small to describe as audience reception, and we would not compare it with the PlayStation figure without saying so.
The rating also tells you nothing about the achievements beyond their existence. Two of the 37 are tied to the separate Rift Zero endings, which means a single run cannot finish the list even if you collect every plushie on the way, and chapter select is the only way back to the final choice.
Setting up an Xbox session
Both accounts need the game and an active online subscription, because the listing describes online co-op only. There is no guest slot and no second-controller option on the same console.
Start a party so you can talk before the lobby exists, then switch to in-game voice for the puzzle callouts. If the game cannot hear you while the party can, the microphone is bound to the party rather than the game.
Cloud saves make the setup forgiving: if one console drops mid-chapter, the progress is on the account rather than the box, so a resume does not cost the pair their checkpoint.
